Schwartz Manes Ruby & Slovin has extensive experience in the estate planning and estate management areas, placing a special emphasis on the tax aspects of planning devices. This practice area encompasses both (1) estate planning, such as retirement planning, wills, trusts and powers of attorney, and (2) estate management items, which include probating an estate and preparing or assisting in the preparation of estate tax returns. Whatever your needs, we will meet with you, review your circumstances (be they personal or financial considerations) and develop an integrated strategy to meet your needs and concerns.
Estate Planning is the means by which we determine how our assets will be managed at the time of our death or in the event of a disability rendering us incapable of making certain decisions. Estate Planning is not only for the wealthy. Estate planning should be done by anyone (a) who wants to control how their assets will be divided; (b) who wants to take steps now to help in decision making once he/she is unable to make the decisions; (c) with spouses or dependent children; (d) with charitable interests or intentions.
It is never too early to start developing your estate plan, but there is a point at which it becomes too late! Even after creating an estate plan, it is very important to keep the plan up to date in light of your personal circumstances and wishes. Unless revoked, your last estate plan, even if its 20 years old, will govern how your estate is managed.
